Renan Barao placed his spinning foot directly in Eddie Wineland’s face to retain his belt at UFC 165

Renan Barao is the UFC bantamweight champion — in a universe that Dominck Cruz isn’t the UFC bantamweight champion. As of tonight, Renan Barao has defended his interim bantamweight title the same amount of times that Dominck Cruz defending the actual UFC bantamweight belt. However the last time Cruz stepped foot in the Octagon was October 1st 2011.

The fight went basically how everyone thought it was going to go. Barao was quicker than Wineland, stronger, a tad more vicious — basically what I’m trying to say is Renan Barao was Brazilian and Eddie Wineland is not.

In just 26 seconds in the first round Renan Barao threw this slick spinning kick directly to Eddie Wineland’s face, forcing him to back up and eventually tumble to the ground. Barao then finished the fight with an appropriate amount of ground and pound for Yves Lavgine to step in. Nice job, and props to Zprophet for the .gif
