Renan Barao is leaving Canada with the interim bantamweight championship belt around his waist

Urijah Faber is now 0-5 in his last five title shots. That’s the truth and that sucks. It sucks because Urijah Faber is a really nice guy, but unfortunately this isn’t a nice guy competition – this is mixed martial arts, and Renan Barao and Urijah Faber just did a bunch of martial arts in a cage for twenty five minutes until the Canadian crowd booed and the fight was deemed over. At the end of it all, Renan Barao was unceremoniously awarded the bantamweight belt as Urijah once again heads back to Sacramento and the slightly shorter-than-regulation chalkboard.

Throughout the fight, Barao used his speed and mutant-level, distance closing strikes to constantly leave Faber trying to get his hands on the Brazilian. This in and out action and a bevy of leg kicks left the Team Alpha Male captain no option but to abandon his wrestling, like a sad kitten in the snow.

Props To Renan Barao (Bar-OW), the dude has a win streak almost as long as Fedor’s career, but the whole card had some weird UFC 9 style bad joo joo going on. The title fight fight had it’s moments, as any high-level bantamweight fight would, but there was no denying the thousands of fans chanting bull**** at the end of the fight. Were they Urijah fans, anticipating an unsatisfactory decision? Or were the shouts about bovine fecal matter directed at the main card of UFC 149 as a whole?

What really matters is that Barao is a legit badass and he has eyes on Dominick Cruz and unifying his belt in a Triforce-like ceremony as soon as possible.
