Protect yourself at all times.
It’s not often that combat sports officials find themselves on the wrong end of a strike from fighters. With that said, there is always a risk when you’re the one who is tasked with breaking up the action. One referee found that out the hard way during a Brave Combat Federation event.
Referee Goes Down!
The semi-finals of the BCF MMA Super Cup went down and so did the official. Here’s a video of the referee falling to the canvas after eating a rolling thunder kick.
Wild scene at the #MMASuperCup!
A referee just got knocked down by a rolling thunder as the round ended.
After collecting himself, he continued on reffing the fight 💪

A little knockdown wasn’t going to deter this ref, however. He was able to recover and he called the rest of the fight.
There is a lot at stake with the BCF MMA Super Cup, which has teamed with the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation. Just as the name of the tourney implies, fighters from around the world represent their countries in this tournament. These competitors are broken up into teams.
The team that reaches first place will get $100,000. The second-place team gets $75,000 and the team that places in third will receive $50,000. There are nine fighters per team.
Let’s hope that the referee who will be on duty for the finals avoids getting caught himself.
