Herb Dean Forced To Withdraw From Officiating Duties For Jones vs. Gustafsson Fight Due To Injury

Mike Beltran Replaces Injured Herb Dean To Officiate Jon Jones vs. Alexander Gustafsson Title Fight

We thought UFC 232 already have enough drama due to Jon Jones abnormal drug test that causes the UFC to move the entire fight card from Las Vegas to Los Angeles, now the Pay-Per-view (PPV) hit with another blow.

According to MMAFighting, MMA referee Herb Dean who was appointed by Nevada Athletic Commission to officiate Jones vs. Gustafsson light heavyweight title fight this Saturday is forced to withdraw from an event due to an injury.

Herb Dean is injured and unable to referee the UFC 232 main event Saturday, per CSAC’s Andy Foster. Mike Beltran will step in. CSAC plans to keep the other referees and judges already scheduled for the two title fights when the card was in Nevada. Marc Goddard has Cyborg-Nunes.

The extent of Herb Dean’s injury wasn’t revealed. Although it could be something substantial that sideline the longtime MMA referee to perform duties inside the Octagon. Mike Beltran will replace Herb Dean to refereeing the light heavyweight championship clash between Jones and Gustafsson this Saturday.

The co-main event of UFC 232 features a featherweight title fight, where division’s champion Cris Cyborg will look to defend her title against bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes, who move up in a division in hope to become the first female two-division champion in UFC history. Marc Goddard will officiate there fight.

Moreover, the judges who’ll look out the main headliner bout are Derek Cleary, Sal D’Amato and Junichiro Kamijo. While, Chris Lee, Dave Hagen, and Mike Bell are the judges appointed for co-main event bout between Cyborg and Nunes.
