MMA referee Wiekus Swart was unfortunately caught in the action.
Swart was overseeing the welterweight headliner between Johan van Staden and Ziko Magengele at the Extreme Fighting Championship 93 event in Johannesburg, South Africa.
As the first round came to a close, Magengele connected with Swart square to the head as the referee was trying to separate them.
Swart dropped immediately and while he did manage to get his bearings and get up immediately, he was eventually replaced by another referee.

Magengele Remains Undefeated In MMA
While Magengele would land a decisive blow on Swart, he would also land a decisive blow on van Staden in the third round to earn an empathic knockout and win the promotion’s vacant welterweight title.
He would also go 4-0 as a professional in the process.
