Wow. Just two weeks after both fighters went all three rounds at UFC 102, the UFC has confirmed that Randy Couture and Brandon Vera will headline UFC 105 in Manchester. When the news first broke, I thought it was Kim Couture vs. Kerry Vera which would actually be a friggin rawesome fight. They both fight at 135 so if Strikeforce wants to get into the counter-programming business, put Couture vs. Vera the same night UFC has Couture vs. Vera. The confusion would just make everyone’s brain explode…well at least the ‘casual drunken meatheads’ Joe Rogan referred to at UFC 99.
About a month ago, Vera said he will hold the light-heavyweight belt and the heavyweight belt, after which Vera said he would just retire. We’re hoping sometime in between, Brandon Vera will activate those gnarly tattoos he has on his back and form some type of…MMA Captain Planet/Voltron hybrid. In the meantime, everyone should be stoked that we get to witness this card for free on Spike TV. Our dude DaMarques Johnson will be brawling against Peter Sobotta. Dan Hardy (we interviewed him!) will be tangling with Kim Dong-hyun and of course your boy,The Count Bisping will be facing off with Dennis Kang (not to be confused with Krang, that brain thing on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles).
