‘Espionage and cotton gauze’ is a name of a book I would write if some publisher wanted me to write it. Otherwise, I would just spend my idle time playing Halo and watching re-runs of ‘Gummi Bears‘ on my computer. Gummi Bears is an interesting show for the simple fact that an entire civilization of beings were fueled by ‘Gummi Berry Juice,’ a secret beverage that enables you to bend the fabric of time and space. While that may seem interesting, it pales in comparision to Rampage Jackson’s accusation that Jon Jones is sending spies into his camp.
Rampage claims that prior to UFC 114, someone tipped off Rashad Evans that he injured his knee, enabling Evans to solely focus on punching Jackson’s knee, something he’s never seen before in a fight. To test his camp’s loyalty, Rampage Jackson faked a hand injury last week and mentioned it inside his training facility. Apparently four hours later, his manager received a phone call from Joe Silva asking him about his hand injury. Here’s an excerpt from a Kevin Iole Yahoo! Skype interview today.
“One of my friends was talking to Jon Jones’ manager recently, and Jon Jones’ manager was saying that he knows everything that is going on in our camp. He said he had spies in our camp and he knew everything that was going on. That got me thinking.
“How did he know about my hand injury that fast? It wasn’t on the Internet, and yet he knew about my hand injury right away. The UFC people were in Brazil, which is why it probably took them four hours to call me. That shows me two things: They have spies in my camp, one, and two, they’re dumb as hell, because they didn’t know how to use the information correctly and to wait. He called right away, running to Joe Silva. Joe Silva called my manager right away.”
“I don’t care what Jon Jones is doing, and I don’t care what his game plan is. I have zero care. I still have the honor of a fighter and going into battle the right way, not spying on my opponent. I’m not scared about my opponent, asking a lot of questions or worrying about what he’s doing. I don’t even watch film.”
Rampage also claims that people on Twitter have been tipping him off to people spying within his camp. Unfortunately this article doesn’t come with a complimentary tin hat to keep the radio antennas from spying into your brain. [Source]
