Rafael dos Anjos is looking for a matchup that excites him.

Rafael dos Anjos is a man who has been to the top of the UFC lightweight division. He has felt the weight of that gold belt around his waist and heard Bruce Buffer call his name after saying “And New.” Now that those championship days seem to be behind him, he is looking for a new kind of fight to get him going. He has a few names in mind that could get the blood pumping.

Dos Anjos is coming off a loss to Rafael Fiziev back in July. The loss was the third in his last five and could have been the final straw on the way to a title shot. Dos Anjos is now being realistic with his shot at the title and although he is ranked eight in a tough division, the top of the lightweight rankings is as muddy as it gets. Going forward he wants fights that are exciting to him, he wants to face veterans of the sport.

“I had my last title run and now it is time to fight people that motivates me to wake up and train,” he wrote. “I have almost eight hours of octagon time…get me a veteran for a change! I would love to fight guys like Jim Miller, Jorge Masvidal or get my rematch with Tony Ferguson or Guida.”

Rafael dos Anjos wants to avenge some losses before his career is through

Two of the names on his “hit list” are Tony Ferguson and Clay Guida. Both men defeated dos Anjos in his early days of the UFC. Currently, both of these men have fights lined up so perhaps dos Anjos will have to wait a bit. In the following Tweet, he mentioned two more names that could be options for him at welterweight, Stephen Thompson and Matt Brown. He has spent some time at 170 pounds before and even earned an interim title shot in that weight class. The former champ still has star power and a resume that showcases greatness. He should be able to lock up a fight with someone on his list eventually.
