The Bout Between Rafael Dos Anjos And Leon Edwards Will Headline UFC On ESPN 4!

UFC on ESPN 4 takes place in San Antonio, Texas, on July 20th, 2019. The competition didn’t have the main event of the evening, but the problem is resolved.

On Wednesday, Ariel Helwani hinted the match between the current 125-pound champ Valentina Shevchenko and BJJ black belt Liz Carmouche as a possibility for the main event of UFC San Antonio.

But, according to Kevin Iole from Yahoo Sports, the clash between the former 155-pound champ Rafael dos Anjos and the ex-BAMMA Welterweight titleholder Leon Edwards will take the spotlight in Texas. Jan Blachowicz Vs Luke Rockhold was in works for the main event of UFC San Antonio too, but Luke has other obligations on the same day.

Main event for UFC on ESPN 4 in San Antonio finalized: It will be Rafael dos Anjos vs Leon Edwards, five rounds. UFC wanted Blachowicz-Rockhold to move there, but Rockhold is filming a Ralph Lauren Polo commercial that day which couldn’t be moved.

Leon Edwards (17-3 MMA, 9-2 UFC) will try to continue his hot 7-win streak. “Rocky” earned back-to-back victories over Gunnar Nelson, Donald Cerrone, Peter Sobotta, Bryan Barbarena, Vicente Luque, Albert Tumenov, and Dominic Waters.

Edwards suffered his last defeat to the defending 170-pound champ, Kamaru Usman, at UFC on Fox 17, on December 19, 2015.

Rafael dos Anjos (29-11 MMA, 18-9 UFC) had ups and downs in his last six battles–4 wins, 2 losses. He last stepped into the cage versus Kevin Lee in the main event of UFC Fight Night 152 and won via fourth-round arm-triangle choke. Before that, “RDA” suffered back-to-back unanimous decision losses to Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington.

Prior to these bouts, dos Anjos stopped Robbie Lawler, Neil Magny, and Tarec Saffiedine.
