Poppin’ and lockin’: 56 seconds of Karl Amoussou

[div class=”notice” class2=”icon”]The following is from an article on DstryrSG, part of the MiddleEasy Network.[/div]

While many complain about the overwhelming and increasing prices of UFC PPV’s vs the quality/oversaturation of MMA cards. There are many “free” options that won’t cost you a new pair of vale tudo shorts, yet continue to be impressive. The first “duh” option would be UFC prelims. Over the past year, undercards continue to be a highly competitive, action packed hour or two. Both UFC and Strikeforce offer prelim fights free on tv or via the interwebs. HDNet, now AXS TV, has a slue of free fights that range from Showtime K-1/MMA, to Titan Fighting, Dream and MFC. While many of these promotions are inferior to the big names, they’re improving and offer highly competitive, often improved, fight cards.

The one promotion I have yet to mention is Bellator. Why? Because I feel it stands in a category all alone and closely placed to UFC and Strikeforce at #3. Some argue the tournament style is far superior (which I agree with). Even a fair number of current UFC fighter and champs agree with me.

The intention here is not to promote Bellator, but to point out that some awesome fights are taking place there and you should tune in. That’s exactly what happened over the weekend – the battle between Judo Black Belts, Karl Amoussou and Bryan Baker. If you don’t know who these two are, you should remove your thumb from whatever orifice it’s currently stuck in and listen up. Amoussou is a M-1, Dream and Strikeforce Veteran with a 16-4-2 record; he is also a Black Belt in Judo and part of Team Haute Tension in France. If your still lost check out this highlight reel.

Hopefully we’ve held your attention enough. Now, check out Mr. Amoussou finish Bryan Baker in 56 seconds of the first round with a Shogun-style heel hook. Sick is all we can say, just sick.
