Former UFC champion Glover Teixeira powered through a tough night at the office with Jamahal Hill at UFC 283.

This past Saturday, Teixeira faced Hill for the vacant light heavyweight title in the headlining bout of UFC 283 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The former titleholder was looking to get back in the winning column after dropping his title to Jiri Prochazka last June. On the other hand, Hill got his shot at the promotional gold after a special sequence of circumstances.

Hill appeared to be in complete control from the start of the fight as he showcased incredible takedown defense and landed at will with some huge shots. There were multiple times when the contest was close to being stopped. However, Teixeira’s insane durability saw him go the distance.

In the end, Hill came out on top of the judges’ scorecards with a dominant 50-44 unanimous decision. He became the first fighter from Dana White’s Contender Series to become a UFC champion and set the new record for the most significant strikes in a single UFC light heavyweight fight at 232.
