Paulo Filho coming out to Gang Starr = Instant Win

I started fishing because Paulo Filho said it’s therapeutic and it prevents depression. After a long battle with his inner demons, Paulo ambitiously resumed training and was poised to make an miraculous comeback to MMA. He proceeded to drop out of his fight with Doong Sik Yoon at Dream 12, and subsequently dropped out of his fight against Hector Lombard at Bellator, only to appear from the clouds with this mystical facial tattoo a few weeks later. It was at that moment I stopped fishing.

Today was an amazing day, not just because I’ve finally found my fishing pole after all these months, but Paulo Filho won his 20th fight this weekend while none of us even expected him to show up. Check out this video of Paulo doing everything right, and by everything, I mean entering the cage to GangStarr (R.I.P. Guru) in his signature cut-off flannel, then promptly getting the fight to canvas and pummeling heavyweight prospect Daniel Gabriel into 1st round submission.

All those jokes about the facial tattoos and fishing tackle will have to be placed in a metaphorical drawer for a few months. Without even bothering to cut weight, Paulo exhibited skills that shows he’s still one of the world’s greatest middleweights. Dude’s still got it, and we’re happy to see him take the first step back to becoming a world-class contender. In fact, I’m so happy for the guy that I’m actually going to dedicate the remainder of my Sunday to fishing in the Hamptons. Congrats Paulo!
