Paulo Costa had a few words to say after a criminal complaint was filed against him.

The UFC Middleweight would make some headlines this week, following reports of him allegedly elbowing a nurse at a vaccination clinic. According to the nurse, they tried to prevent Costa from leaving with a filled out immunization card, even though he wasn’t vaccinated.

Police Releases A Statement

Not long after the incident, Costa would be questioned by police in his hometown of Contagem, Brazil. On Tuesday, the Civil Police of Minas Gerais released the following statement to MMA Fighting.

“The suspect, aged 31, and the victim, aged 26, were taken to the Contagem precinct, where they were heard by the police authority, which requested the forensic examination,” the statement read. “At the time, the woman expressed interest in pressing criminal charges against the fighter, and the Civil Police wrote a Circumstantiated Term of Occurrence (TCO), in which both sides agreed to appear in a hearing before the Special Criminal Court of the municipality.”

Costa’s Side Of The Story

What did ‘The Eraser’ have to say about all of this? Well, he apparently told security guard he had been vaccinated, but the nurse refused to give him the vaccination card, holding him by the arm. Costa said to the guard he tried to free himself and accidentally hit the nurse with an elbow.

Costa would comment on the situation further on Twitter, claiming he’s ‘not guilty’. He’d also throw in some memes in his response. Classic Paulo.

“Not guilty,” Costa answered a fan who asked about what had happened.

“Call the f*ck police,” Costa wrote above a ‘Prison Break’ meme featuring him and Jorge Masvidal.

“Lol I haven’t,” Costa replied when asked to show his vaccine card.”
