Paul Daley finally inks the contract with Strikeforce

Last month we reported that Paul Daley inked a six-fight deal with Strikeforce and that he was extraordinarily happy with the contract. It was from the same source who gave us the news that the winner of Koscheck vs. Daley would be the next coach on TUF 12 and would get a shot at Georges St. Pierre. After receiving the Strikeforce contract, Daley and his camp allegedly signed it but never faxed it in to San Jose. Still not sure what the intended purpose of the contractual holdout was, but Daley was already scheduled to appear in Shark Fights 13 when the Strikeforce news broke on August 1st 2010.

According to MMAFighting, Paul Daley has finally signed and delivered the Strikeforce contract that was offered to him nearly six weeks ago.

We were told that Evangelista Cyborg would be Daley’s first opponent which obviously denotes that he would still be fighting at welterweight. More importantly, it cracks open the chance of a potential Nick Diaz vs. Paul Daley bout that would undoubtedly elevate the level of smack-talk we’ve seen in MMA.

It’s also important to note that Paul Daley will no longer participate in Glory’s welterweight tournament that was scheduled to kick off October 16th and wrap-up April 2011. Shinya Aoki also verbally agreed to fight in the tournament but has since declined, which obviously is depressing in more than one way. [Source]
