All three judges scored the bantamweight bout 28-27 for Sato. Mix entered the fight with a two-point red-card deduction after weighing 63.85 kg for a 61 kg contract, an overage of 2.85 kg or 6.28 pounds. RIZIN streamed the event through RIZIN 100 CLUB, RIZIN LIVE, ABEMA and U-NEXT.
The penalty followed the terms RIZIN announced after Mix missed the RIZIN 54 limit: a Sato victory would stand, while a Mix win or draw would become a no contest.

Sato Says The Deduction Changed The Result
Sato gave a blunt assessment in RIZIN’s official post-fight interview. The following remarks are MiddleEasy translations of his Japanese answers.
I lost two rounds, so without the red card I would have lost. That was the kind of fight I had.
Mix controlled Sato’s back and threatened a rear-naked choke in the opening round. Sato defended the submission, then had more success with calf kicks and right hands as the fight continued. Mix again reached Sato’s back in the third round, but Sato survived to the final bell.
He was strong. When we grappled and he took my back, I was really glad I had practiced my back defense.
The choke was around my neck, but my head wasn’t beside his. I brought my head in front of his, so I was able to escape. Because of the head position, my hand-fighting got there in time.

Sato Addresses Mix’s Weight Miss And Future
Sato said he accepted the fight because he wanted to test the work he had completed in camp, even after Mix failed to make the contracted limit.
I really wanted to fight. Not being able to test what I had worked on would have been the worst part. I also thought it was a shame that he wasn’t in good condition.
He did not dismiss Mix after the result. Sato said the former Bellator champion still had the ability to rebuild his career if he handled the next stage seriously.
He has talent and ability. If he does things properly, he can definitely return to the top, but he is crushing his own chances. That is what feels like such a waste.
The loss was Mix’s fourth in a row. His skid began with UFC decisions against Mario Bautista and Jakub Wiklacz, followed by a second-round stoppage loss to Kyoma Akimoto at RIZIN 52.
