Pagie VanZant Talks Potential Fight With Flyweight Champion

Paige VanZant is currently competing in the UFC’s Women’s Flyweight division. She opens up about the champ in that division, and just how scary she is.

Paige VanZant has had a few ups and downs in her UFC career. She is currently coming off of a victory over Rachel Ostovich, but lost two in a row prior to that. She has also done a few extracurriculars outside of the cage, along with dealing with a nasty arm injury.

In her absence, Flyweight Champion Valentina Shevchenko has been running through the division. Her most recent victory over Jessica Eye was one of the most brutal knockouts in MMA history. The division seems hard pressed to find a contender that would be a tough challenge for the champ.

Although Paige is still pretty far away from a title shot, she recognizes that. However, she spoke with ESPN’s Ariel Helwani to talk about the champ’s recent performance, along with who could beat her.

“I’m going to be real honest. She’s terrifying. So, no i don’t think…i plan on being in the ufc and training and fighting forever. she’ll probably retire before i fight for the title to be totally honest. you know, i’m only 25 so i want to work my way up.

as far as anybody i see right now to dethrone her? no, there’s nobody. she’s amazing, and i know that i feel like she said bad things about me in the past but i don’t care. her striking is like, absolutely next level. She’s so…gosh methodical in her striking, and technical and it’s like nothing i’ve ever seen before. so i’m working on being like her. i want striking like her.”

What do you guys think? Do you agree with Paige VanZant?
