Paddy Pimblett was rebuked by Brendan Schaub and TJ Dillashaw for his lack of professionalism.
Former UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw is looking to return to action for a title shot or top contender bout. Having been on the sidelines since his last outing against Cory Sandhagen, Dillashaw has his eyes set on the belt. The 36-year-old has endured multiple setbacks that saw him compete only twice since 2019.
Brendan Schaub & TJ Dillashaw criticize Paddy Pimblett
As one of the hottest properties in the UFC, Paddy Pimblett is often under the microscope of fans and fighters alike. The Scouser is infamous for gaining copious amounts of weight during his time off as he devours what he fancies, and everything he fancies.
In a recent episode of The Schaub Show, Brendan Schaub hosted TJ Dillashaw discussing his plans ahead after recovering from a knee injury. The pair also spoke about ‘The Baddy’ and criticized him for his lack of professionalism.
“I love Paddy, I don’t know if you’ve met Paddy, he’s such a positive, talented human being”
“He was so big. I told him off-camera, I go, ‘Bubba, I love what you’re doing, you’re one of the best people I know. Here’s the thing though, you getting this big and then cutting down, getting big, cutting down. When you’re young, it’s fine right now but as you go on dude, I’m telling you this isn’t the way to do it.”
TJ Dillashaw weighed in to present his opinion on Pimblett’s weight gain outside of camp.
“He’s loving diabetes. Bro, that’s like a recipe for just destroying your body”
“If he keeps that same work ethic that he has now, it will never be achieved. Ya know what I mean? You can’t have that downtime like that, you can’t get that fat. You can’t be all out of shape. It just kind of proves like the dedication to what you need to do.”
Both men agreed on the fact that Pimblett will likely learn as he gets older since he’s still a young fighter on the come-up.
Schaub: TJ Dillashaw deserves a title shot
Following a failed drug test that had him suspended for two years, many members of the community have taken issue with TJ Dillashaw’s return to bantamweight. The Californian returned to action after a two-year hiatus and managed to come out on top by a split decision last July.
While there may be criticism reserved for Dillashaw, Schaub is of the opinion that Dillashaw has paid his dues.
“There’s nothing that, especially America, loves more than a comeback story. With everything going on, this cancel culture and all this sh*t going on. People want to cancel people for everything. Hang it over their heads if they make a mistake. For you, it’s like, ‘all right, I’ve made a mistake.’
“He paid his dues and lost millions upon millions of dollars. Millions of f**king dollars. He paid his dues.”
Paddy Pimblett will be back inside the cage against Jordan Leavitt at the UFC London card. No opponent has been officially announced for TJ Dillashaw but he is expected to take on former interim UFC bantamweight titleholder Petr Yan in his next fight.
