Oscar De La Hoya Publicly Invites MMA Fighters To Join Golden Boy MMA
Floyd Mayweather Jr was mostly leading a social media war versus Conor McGregor but he only teased about making his own promotion. On the other side, the former boxing champion Oscar De La Hoya is more than serious when it comes to getting into the world of MMA as a promoter under his own banner – Golden Boy MMA!
Golden Boy MMA will be headlined by long-time expected trilogy between Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell. If we remember the fact that Oscar De La Hoya promised to bring something new into the promotion, this war of two angry old rivals sounds like an interesting choice. Oscar De La Hoya also invites disgruntled MMA fighters who hope for a better future to give a call to Golden Boy MMA. (via MMAMania.com)
“I’m really looking forward to getting involved with MMA and building a new business,” De La Hoya said. “If any fighter who is an MMA fighter wants to explore a different avenue, come knock on our door, give us a call. I’m really excited about starting Golden Boy MMA. When we do things, we do them right, just like we’ve done with boxing.”
Oscar De La Hoya has previously experimented with Affliction MMA and you can’t doubt he will do everything he can to equalize this difficult task. Scott Coker made Bellator MMA the place for the former UFC superstars, and their salaries are now pretty high. He brought names like Rory MacDonald, Gegard Mousasi, Lyoto Machida, Rampage Jackson, Wanderlei Silva, Fedor Emelianenko, Matt Mitrione, Frank Mir…
One thing is certain, Oscar De La Hoya has great social skills! But can he do the same? What do you think, how many events will be required to prove that Golden Boy MMA is a very serious promotion? Do you believe Chuck Liddell Vs Tito Ortiz will skyrocket it high? Will the success of the first pay-per-view (PPV) event determine the destiny of this promotion? De La Hoya is a born champion who is always ready to fight until the last bell!
