The UFC is reportedly working on an intriguing bantamweight matchup between O'Malley and Munhoz for UFC 276.

Sean O’Malley is set for arguably his biggest test in recent times.

According to ESPN, the UFC is working on a bantamweight matchup between O’Malley and divisional veteran Pedro Munhoz.

The fight — which is expected to be finalized shortly — is set to take place at UFC 276 on July 2 in Las Vegas.

O’Malley would essentially confirm the matchup on Instagram with a video.

Sean O’Malley Set For First Top 10 Opponent

Of course, O’Malley has long stated that he prefers to fight unranked opponents until he receives a more lucrative UFC contract.

However, “Sugar” has stepped up his level of competition lately. He most recently TKO’d Raulian Paiva — who was ranked at the time — at UFC 269 back in December to make it three wins in a row.

Overall, he is 5-1 in the UFC with knockout finishes in all five of his wins.

In Munhoz, though, O’Malley will face his first top 10 opponent. Munhoz is also one of the toughest fighters in the division and has faced a host of the best 135-pounders in the world.

The Brazilian is currently on a losing skid and is 1-4 in his last five outings. However, those losses have all come to champions or former champions including Aljamain Sterling, Frankie Edgar, Jose Aldo and Dominick Cruz.

One thing is for sure — this will certainly be a very intriguing matchup.
