That is how you make a debut. Last night (Jun. 26) Antonina Shevchenko made her long awaited UFC maiden voyage as part of season 2, week 3 of the Dana White Tuesday Night Contender Series.
Look it was almost a given that Shevchenko would be signed by the UFC eventually regardless of the outcome Tuesday night in Las Vegas. The older sister of UFC flyweight contender Valentina Shevchenko, Antonina has been in Nevada for the past few months training at the UFC Performance Institute for this fight.
Worst. Kept. Secret. Ever.
Now 6-0 in MMA and 39-1 as a pro kickboxer, Shevchenko is 125 pounds pf pure Muay Thai violence. Then she went out and crushed Jaimelene Nievera’s face in with knees in the second round last night.
Becoming the first ever pair of sisters signed to the UFC, welcome to the Octagon Antonina. Already fantasy booking Muay Thai sister story lines for the UFC’s flyweight division and they all involve very brutal knees to the face finishes.
So happy for my sister !!!!
First ever sisters in @ufc History !!! Congratulations @AntoninaPantera with so beautiful victory and getting UFC contract !!!! #muaythaisisters #ufc #TeamBullet pic.twitter.com/OYb6bcS7Gm
