Melbourne Politicians Moan That Women Parading In Bikinis At Bouts Is “Outdated”, UFC Might Host An Event Without Octagon Girls!
The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to Australia with its UFC 243 event, which is set to go down on October 6 at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne. It brings some elite matches into “The Land Down Under” – Holly Holm Vs Raquel Pennington, Al Iaquinta Vs Dan Hooker. It will be headlined by 185-pound strap bout between an Interim champ Israel “The Last Stylebender” Adesanya and the reigning defending division king Robert “The Reaper” Whittaker.
Octagon girls beautify periods between the rounds and spread positive energy throughout the hall. But it seems Melbourne politicians are not interested in bringing these amazing beloved hot card-carrying ladies to their city! (via MMAMania.com)
“It’s 2019, do we really still need scantily-clad women to wander around the middle of a fighting ring between rounds?” Lord Mayor of Melbourne Sally Capp asked Herald Sun. “Grid girls are no longer part of Formula One, walk-on girls are no longer part of professional darts — surely it’s time to move on.”
Unfortunately, grid girls are already removed from Formula One races. The boxing event in Victoria will also go without these lovely ladies. And this is even weirder – they were replaced with men!
As of yet, it has remained unknown whether UFC will follow suit. Yet, it is so hard to imagine hosting the UFC event without Octagon girls. What are your thoughts on this controversial statement by Lord Mayor of Melbourne Sally Capp?
