No offense Cain Velasquez but Junior Dos Santos really wants to fight Alistair Overeem in December

You want it. I want it. We all want it. Some of you probably think I’m talking about bacon, because let’s face it everyone wants bacon. Even vegans, Muslims, Jews, and Seventh Day Adventists want bacon. There’s a hundred different versions of fake bacon just to try and curb the cravings of those who aren’t ‘allowed’ to eat bacon. Bacon is like the heroin of food. If you try and stop eating bacon the memory of it will never leave your brains pleasure receptors. You can use turkey bacon or tofu bacon as a methadone like treatment but lets face it-you are always going to crave putting the real salty meat in your mouth.

The matchup between Junior Dos Santos and Alistair Overeem is like the ‘bacon of MMA’ and we are all salivating to finally taste it. From the way it sounds now, nobody wants it more than Overeem and Dos Santos. Back in June we shared Overeem’s psychic prediction that he would in fact be fighting before the end of the year and for the belt, even though due to his suspension he is not able to reapply for a license to fight in Nevada until December 27th. As impossible as that might have made a fight between Junior Dos Santos and Alistair Overeem sound back in June, now it is beginning to look like this a real possibility.

The normally calm JDS apparently sat down with Dana White at UFC on FOX 4 over the weekend and told him he wanted to fight Overeem.

“I sat down with Junior dos Santos yesterday, who is the nicest guy in the world,” White said. “He’s the nicest guy in the world, but he said, ‘I have nothing but respect for Cain Velasquez. I like him as a person and as a fighter, and I think he deserves the shot at the title. But I do not want to fight him. He said, ‘Alistair Overeem is a punk. He’s got a big mouth, and he’s been saying lots of bad things about me, and I want to knock him out. I want to knock him out now.'”

Shortly after, Overeem tweeted a response:

“Happily reading an interview about JDS wanting to fight me instead of Cain. Cool! Give me and the fans what they want!”

Aside from both fighters publicly announcing their desire to fight one another, it is now being reported that Brett Okamoto of ESPN has confirmed with Lorenzo Fertitta that JDS is in fact scheduled to fight on December 29th in Las Vegas and his opponent is ‘to be determined’. At this point it does not name the expected Cain Velasquez as his opponent. From the rumblings going on in MMA news over the last couple of weeks is sure does smell like Dana and the Fertittas are planning to cook us up a huge year ending plate of JDS vs Reem bacon to satisfy our hungry MMA bellies.
