  • Tom Aspinall caused controversy after asking MMA journalist Nina Drama an X-rated question
  • Nina defended Aspinall and provided some clarity on the matter

MMA journalist Nina-Marie Daniele, better known as Nina Drama, made a conscious effort to clarify a few things about her controversial and X-rated interview with UFC interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall.

Things went a bit out of hand

It can be recalled that Aspinall had a one-on-one interview with Nina ahead of his UFC 295 clash with Sergei Pavlovich. Everything seemed normal until Aspinall asked Nina a sexually explicit question. Evidently confused and a bit startled, Nina still answered Aspinall and the two capped it off with boisterous laughter.

Tom: “I’ve got a question for you. Have you ever been fingered by an MMA fighter before?”

Nina: “Fingered? No.”

Tom: “What would it take?”

Nina: “To finger me? Are we talking about the same thing?”

Addressing the issue

As expected, Aspinall went under-fire as his question was labeled by many as inappropriate. To shed light on the subject, Nina addressed the issue and provided some context on Aspinall’s question.

According to Nina, Aspinall just tried to get a reaction from her as he sees her Instagram followers asking her some crazy things. Ultimately, Nina clarified that she wasn’t offended by Aspinall and implied that perhaps, there is just a huge difference between British and American humor.

“I absolutely love Tom Aspinall’s humor! The reason he asked me that crazy question is because we follow each other on IG and sees all the crazy weird questions my followers ask me. @AspinallMMA is funny AF and he didn’t offend me AT ALL! He was trying to get a reaction out of me and he got a good one lol. I asked him some crazy ass questions too!,” Nina wrote on X.

“Tom’s a very funny guy. Great personality. British humor and American humor are entirely different,” Nina added in the video.

As it stands, Aspinall became the UFC heavyweight interim champion after knocking out Pavlovich at UFC 295. He is now waiting for the UFC’s decision regarding his next fight as reigning champion Jon Jones is still recovering from surgery.
