Nick Diaz fights tonight and you probably didnt even know

Nick Diaz fights tonight and if you listen really closely you can hear Jay Hieron scream ‘WTF!’. You probably already know that Jay Hieron had a chance to sign with the UFC after the collapse of Affliction this past summer but he decided to go with Strikeforce and get an immediate title shot at the Strikeforce welterweight belt. The fight was scheduled, Nick Diaz was his opponent and just a couple weeks before they were supposed to scrap Diaz didn’t show up for the CSAC drug test. Dude’s an aficionado of herb and he had a prior agreement with the head of the CSAC that marijuana/THC would not be one of the drugs that would prevent him from competing. The only problem was that the guy he made the deal with no longer worked at CSAC. Nick Diaz’s urine suddenly became illegal. Illegal urine is the worst type of urine (as opposed to legal urine which is alright to drink, just ask Lyoto Machida). Diaz dipped out of the drug test to prevent a mandatory one-year suspension administered by the California State Athletic Commission. Today he placed the decorative glass bong back on his bed mantel so he could compete in his first sanctioned fight since June 2009.

Nick Diaz will compete in the ‘Gracie Open’ against Lucas Leite in a no-gi Jiu-Jitsu match in California. If you’re not familiar with Leite, dude is a Pan American and World Jiu-Jitsu Champion. The ‘Super Fight’ goes down at 5pmPT today and unless you live next to the Cesar Gracie Jiu-Jitsu center or have unlocked the secrets of teleportation, then you’re probably not going to be able to see it. Bummer, at least you have WEC 43 tonight…unless your cable provider is DirecTV. In which case, you literally have nothing to do this Saturday night besides attempting to integrate with society (but who really want to do that?). [Source]
