A welterweight bout between former interim titleholder Carlos Condit and Neil Magny kicked off tonight’s UFC 219 pay-per-view card in Las Vegas.
Neil Magny played a role of spoiler, discarding former interim welterweight champ Carlos Condit via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28). Carlos Condit made his first appearance inside the Octagon since August 2016.
Condit indicated at possible retirement last year after losing to Demian Maia at UFC on FOX 21 via submission. Before that Condit dropped a razor-thin decision earlier in 2016 to then-champion Robbie Lawler.
Neil Magny, who’d just come off a miserable performance against Rafael dos Anjos back in September. Today he scores arguably his biggest win after his recent losses.
Magny (20-6) won for the second time in his past three fights and fifth in his past seven. Condit (30-11) lost his third straight fight.
