Nate Diaz has made it clear who he will be supporting in the upcoming Miami boxing event. The former UFC standout shared a betting slip that confirmed he placed $20,000 on Jake Paul to defeat Anthony Joshua when they meet on December 19th. The Instagram post said, “I’m betting on this b*tch,” along with proof of the wager. Should Paul win, Diaz will collect $142,000.

The Road That Led To Jake Paul And Anthony Joshua

Jake Paul’s original boxing assignment for November fell apart after his scheduled exhibition with Gervonta Davis was canceled due to a legal dispute involving Davis. With the match removed from the schedule, Paul redirected his attention to a new opponent, which eventually resulted in a deal with Anthony Joshua.

Joshua, a former two time unified heavyweight champion and the 2012 Olympic gold medalist, stands 6 feet 6 inches and brings years of championship level experience. Paul has never faced a boxer of Joshua’s stature or achievements, making this the most demanding contest of his career.

Paul did compete against Nate Diaz in August 2023, where Paul won by unanimous decision after a fifth round knockdown. Diaz later suggested the camp for that contest was not ideal, but he still expressed interest in meeting Paul again in the ring before Paul moved on to the Joshua fight.

After parting ways with the UFC in 2022, Diaz entered the boxing scene and competed twice. His loss to Paul was followed by a tight majority decision win against Jorge Masvidal in July 2024. Payment issues from the Masvidal contest later resulted in court involvement, which occupied much of Diaz’s time in 2025.
