Nate Diaz Talks Potential Fights That Interest Him

Nate Diaz is finally set to make his return to the UFC octagon, against Anthony Pettis at UFC 241. However, there is a reason he took the bout against Pettis, and not someone else.

Diaz has been out of action since 2016 when he lost a majority decision to Conor McGregor. There have been a few times where it seemed we would see him come back sooner, though ultimately nothing would pan out. That is, until this upcoming fight against Pettis.

Nevertheless, if you ask Dana White, the reason Diaz took so long to return is his own fault. White went on record saying Diaz had turned down several fights, against some of the sport’s top contenders. However, if you ask Diaz, that is not quite what happened.

According to Diaz, in an interview with ESPN, he is only interested in some fights. Despite what you may think, however, they are not fights with champions like Khabib Nurmagomedov, and Kamaru Usman.

“I feel like I’m just better and cooler than those guys. What the hell do I want to fight them for? Pettis is cooler than both of them fight-wise, You know what I’m saying? Do you remember Street Fighter? ‘I want to see that guy vs. that guy.’ Or even at school when you knew two guys would kick ass and you were like, ‘I wonder what would happen if them fools fought?’

So I think of it from that perspective, too. If I were someone wanted to watch me fight in the UFC, I would want to watch me fight Conor or Petis. Masvidal just did his thing the other day, and that was great. You know, stuff like that.”

Does Nate Diaz win in the UFC 241 co-main event against Anthony Pettis?
