As advertised, Molly McCann delivered once again at UFC London with another spectacular finish courtesy of her signature spinning elbow. It only took “Meatball” one round to dismantle Hannah Goldy via TKO after landing a hard spinning elbow, the same move that knock the living lights out of Luana Carolina four months ago. It also made McCann the first female fighter to finish her opponent with the said move.

Let’s toast to that

What’s even more epic? McCann jumped out of the octagon to have a toast and take a shot of whiskey with Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Michael Chandler.

McCann, who took a bottle of whiskey with her at the post-fight presser, also admitted that she drank “as much as last time” but the last victory was more special than this one. On a more serious note, “Meatball” pointed out that she knew all along that she can get the job done and she’s now convinced that she’s destined for greatness.

“I gave you fight IQ, I gave you patience, I gave you positions where I might have been submitted or controlled, none of that. I was against the cage and some bird went, ‘You smell nice’ and in that moment the fight changed. Sometimes I go back and forth in my mind about whether I am who I think I am, am I going to leave a legacy, and this c*** [Pimblett] goes, ‘Of course you are, you’re the Meatball,’” McCann said during the post-fight presser.

“Did I think this was coming? I said it in every single interview. Did I think it would be the same finish, yes. You’ve all seen the promo this week, you’ve seen us go through the same stuff, rinse and repeat. I’ve drank as much as last time… I’m bladdered. This doesn’t feel the same, the last time was special,” she added. “It wasn’t the same because I’ve done i before but I had much more faith in myself, I believed in myself. I believe it’s my time to be where I’m supposed to be and I’ve learned al the lessons I’m supposed to have learned.”

Meatball calls out a Shevchenko

When talking about legacy, McCann also shared her thoughts on taking on reigning flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko. As per “Meatball,” that time might come but at the moment, she’s quite confident about taking on Valentina’s sister, Antonina.

“So I never call anyone out,” McCann told MMA Junkie at the post-fight news conference. “It’s not for me to do. But when you talk about legacy, prestige, honor, who’s the best in the game – and it’s Valentina (Shevchenko). Am I Valentina ready? No. Am I Antonina ready? Let’s see. I believe I am. This isn’t like a diss. This isn’t like, ‘I think I’m gonna ‘F’ you everywhere.’”

“No, it’s not,” she added. “But I genuinely think this is an amazing fight to have, and if they do one fight camp for me, if I ever make it to Shevchenko, they’ll have the blueprint. But I’ll also have the blueprint because I’ll know how to beat her sister. So with the greatest respect, I’ve said her name because I think she is the best. So I would like you to tell her that I believe she is the best, that’s why I’m trying to challenge her for that.”
