Tim Schultz, a mixed martial artist out of Queensland, Australia, is currently fighting a horrific staph infection while racking up tens of thousands of dollars in medical bills along the way.

The 3-1 fighter took to social media to share details of his illness, including some very graphic images of his treatment thus far.

“Where we are at, we are trying to get me home in the next day or two, I’ve two surgeries,” Schultz revealed on Instagram. “Both of which I have woken halfway though and has someone the most painful experience of my left. I was told that there be an incision made to remove the bactera. I have now have zero skin in the top of my foot. There is a video of if halfway. I need to to get back home. Anything people could do, share, donate, spread the work. Could be saving my life at the moment.”

The images in the embedded Instagram posts are extremely graphic. You have been warned.

With Schultz currently undergoing treatment, his friend Matt Lee-Manwar is keeping fans and friends up to date while offering up another image of Schultz’s gnarly infection that is most certainly not for the squeamish.

“Tim’s lost almost all the skin from his shin down to his foot on the upper side. The infection in his lower leg is clearing, but has moved further up his leg to his knee. The infection is currently not in his bone. He cannot have his leg below his heart, otherwise there is excruciating pain. He has also woken up during surgery!

“As of 3 days ago, his medical bill was roughly $13,000. He needs his medical bill paid before he can leave. Each day post treatment will cost him further medical fees unless the bill is paid. Best case scenario is that he can get out of the Thai hospital and flown to Aus. This will mean another 3 days of medical bills to allow him to be discharged.”

UFC standout ‘King’ Casey O’Neill shared Schultz’s story on Twitter along with a link where you can make a donation.

“I have a friend in Thailand who got a staph infection through to his bone, it’s looking likely he will lose his leg and never be able to fight again. Please considering donating if you have the means. Thank you,” Casey posted.
