An amateur MMA fighter suddenly passed away after winning a three-round fight in a charity event.
A tragic win
Trokon Dousuah recently competed at a charity MMA show in Alberta, Canada. He looked good during the fight and even secured the victory after three rounds of fighting. However, everybody in attendance began to worry after the 33-year-old struggled to stay on his feet shortly after getting his hand raised.
The event staff had to carry Dousuah off the cage and rushed the MMA fighter to a local hospital. Nothing has been disclosed about the cause of his sudden death but it is now reportedly under investigation by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
Who’s to blame?
According to Dousuah’s fellow amateur MMA fighter Natalia Rajkovic, it’s very likely that the event organizer’s failed to follow strict health and safety regulations which resulted in a tragic death by one of the fighters.
“I absolutely think it could have been prevented in so many different ways,” Rajkovic told CTV News. “Starting from the medicals, if he was properly taken care of.”
Ultra MMA, the promotion that organized the event, is now being scrutinized over Dousuah’s death. On the other hand, Enoch Nation, the owner of the facility where the event has held, insisted that they only let Ultra MMA use their venue but not their staff, pointing out that they weren’t responsible for the safety of the event’s participants.
“Unfortunately, Ultra MMA privately rented our facility and hired their own staffing team,” Enoch Nation said in a statement following the death of Dousuah. “So, our staff were not present during the event and have no information to share at this time.”
More details about Dousuah’s death are expected to be publicized soon with the case is being investigated.
