Mirko Cro Cop gets knocked out by Brendan Schaub

Mirko Cro Cop made his way slowly from the entrance in Newark new jersey, Ecstasy of Gold enveloping him. He took almost the whole song to walk out, it was amazing. Fog machines were needed. Cro Cop looks focused/reminiscent. How could you not be intimidated if you were Brendan Schaub? The extremely pro Cro Cop crowd was behind the Pride legend the whole time. Gary La Plante was in paradise. Vale Tudo shorts were worn. Life was good. After a back and forth battle that took place standing and on the ground with Cro Cop probably ahead on the judges scorecards,  a bloodied Hybrid pulls the KO win out of nowhere with just over a minute and a half left in the fight. Cro Cop faceplants, Gary the Grape is looking for a ledge. Is this the last we see of the Croatian legend? Bummer.

Update: It looks like Dana served the Croatian one his walking papers.

I was talking tonight about how tough Mirko ‘Cro Cop’ is,” UFC president White said. “At his age and with the wars he’s been in, to see how he gets in there with these heavyweights now that are bigger, stronger and younger than he is – and he still holds his own – it’s a testament to what a great fighter that guy was in his prime.

“I have all respect for Mirko ‘Cro Cop,’ but yeah, I’d have to say tonight is probably the last time we’ll see ‘Cro Cop’ fight again.”

“I don’t think I’d have an argument from ‘Cro Cop.”

Damn. Mirko was winning that fight. Props to Schaub for retiring his idol.
