Mike Perry and Dillon Danis got dropped into the Ariel Helwani blender before their Duel Arena 1 MMA fight, and Perry did what Perry does. He turned a simple striking-versus-grappling question into a threat that sounded like it came from a guy who thinks defense is something you file with your taxes.
Perry, who meets Danis on Aug. 29 in Orlando, was pushed after Danis told him he does not move his head. Perry did not exactly promise a footwork seminar. He fired back that he was fine eating one to give one, then put the whole thing in the kind of sentence that makes promoters start clipping video before the call is even over.

Perry And Danis Trade Threats
Asked whether he was taking Danis’s ground game lightly, Perry rejected the suggestion and described the grappling work in his camp.

The former UFC welterweight is coming off a violent combat-sports stretch. He stopped Nate Diaz in his MMA return at MVP MMA 1, a fight that kept rolling through the news cycle after Jacob “Stitch” Duran detailed Diaz’s damage. Perry also carried a perfect BKFC run before stepping back into MMA, with wins over names like Eddie Alvarez, Luke Rockhold, Jeremy Stephens, and Michael Page.
Danis is the opposite kind of headache. His public brand is chaos, but his actual MMA threat is the grappling. The BJJ black belt has been away from traditional MMA for years, and the whole Duel Arena 1 sell is built around whether he can get Perry down before Perry turns the fight into a bouncer shift outside a bad nightclub.
Perry has already made it clear this booking was not just about loyalty to one promotion. He previously said he took a pay cut to fight Danis because the name and the timing made sense after the Diaz win. Now the sales pitch is even cleaner. Danis says Perry leaves openings.
