It seems like only yesterday that I was sitting ringside at the Sears Center in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, getting trampled by a stampede of joyous Russians rushing into the cage after Fedor knocked out Brett Rogers. It was one of the most surreal moments of my life watching Fedor do what Fedor does for the last time on American soil. It’s sad that Strikeforce is now planning their final show before the UFC swallows their roster of fighters and puts the promotion to rest. We’ll never forget Heidi Androl talking about Muay Thai blackbelts, and Gus Johnson getting needlessly excited over techniques he learned while taking a beginners course at the “RRRrrrenzo Gracie Academy” in New York City. We’ll even miss the day that Frank Shamrock got his braces removed and smiled on camera because he was eager to show off his newly minted mandible. So many great memories were made since 2006, and after January 2nd, it will cease to exist. The only good news we can take from their final event is that it’s shaping up to have an amazing fight card. In fact, Mike Kyle just confirmed that he’s fighting Gegard Mousasi, and he did it on YouTube so you can’t call us liars.
