Michael Page fights to a decision for the first time, probably because he wanted to

Michael Page is a strange dude, which means his comparisons to Anderson Silva are appropriate in and out of the cage. Michael Page is the kind of guy who will win a fifteen minute decision with his hands on his hips counter-punching only when it behooves him. The usual reaction to Michael Page is, “ninja please?” But Venom won’t even acknowledge the fact that he’s a ninja or doing anything than dominating unless you say whatever magic words he requires to truly open up.

Tonight was a vertical Anderson Silva vs Thales Leites. Nah-Shon Burrell did his best, but after fifteen minutes of frustrating arm jiggles and clinch work, the judges gave the decision to Page, and rightfully so. It was one of those fights where the impressive parts only really showed themselves if you had the eyes for them. Part of it makes me think that Michael Page wanted to go to a decision. I’m conspiratorial like that.

After the end of the fight, the two fighters decided they wanted to fight more, since not much happened in the fifteen minutes that they were allotted in the first place. The security didn’t want them to hug anymore than they already did, so they held them back for a bit, but then they allowed the embracing one more time.
