“Dana White’s Favorite Fighter” stands with the UFC’s decision to strip Charles Oliveira.

Michael Chandler is coming off a knockout of the year contender over Tony Ferguson at UFC 274. In the main event, his former opponent Oliveira was stripped of his UFC lightweight belt as soon as the fight started because he missed weight by .5 pounds.

Everyone has an opinion on Oliveira’s weight miss. Some think it was extreme of the UFC to strip him, some think it was perfectly fine. UFC commentator UFC Joe Rogan believes he was screwed. Chandler on the other hand stands with the UFC on their decision.

UFC did the right thing

“Number one, I will stand firm that I think the UFC did the right thing. If you cannot do the most basic thing for us, which is make weight. You have to make weight,” Chander said on the podcast Bussin’ With The Boys. Listen, I would never kick a guy when he’s down. Well, he’s not really down because he won his fight. For sure [he’s the still the champion] but in life there are consequences to your actions or in-actions. The action of him not making weight, you know.”

“If anything, all it does is keep on adding wrinkles to the most electrifying division in the UFC. I freaking love it. Everyone talks about the lightweight division because of dudes that are in and stuff like this that are happening. The 8 ball is Conor [McGregor] coming back, [Dustin] Poirier talking about going up to 170.”

Chandler knows that Oliveira will rightfully fight for the title next and believes it will be against Islam Makhachev.

As for what is next for Chandler, he wants to get back to the lightweight title as soon as possible. But he also realizes that he might be the frontrunner for Conor McGregor. Chandler told the podcast that he would go to enemy territory to fight McGregor in an instant.
