Michael Chandler has no problem with Kimbo versus Shamrock headlining , and he shouldn’t. That fight will likely bring tons of eyeballs to his fight with Derek Campos, and everyone else on the card. Yes, it’s a freakshow, but it’s a freak show that everyone can get behind, because they #believeincoker:
“People know who Kimbo Slice is and who Ken Shamrock is. There’s a lot of animosity between them. We will most likely break numbers on Spike TV,” Chandler told Last Word on Sports.
“Scott Coker knows how to run a promotion. You saw how successful he was with Strikeforce. You hear rumors of people who’s contracts are up talking about coming over. It’s cool, it’s exciting. We’ll see what the landscape looks like a year from now.”
Could this be the time that we look back on and realize everything changed? A new touchstone moment in MMA, where the old Bellator birthed the new Spikeforce like a butterfly emerging from its cocoon? I hope so.
