Michael Chandler has been in lots of tough fights since he joined the UFC in 2021. He’s battled really strong guys like Dustin Poirier, Justin Gaethje, and Charles Oliveira.
At UFC 309, Chandler had high hopes of defeating Charles, also known as ‘Do Bronx.’ A win could have brought him closer to competing for the undisputed lightweight title, but unfortunately, he came up short once again.

The fight between “Iron” Mike and the old champ was super fun to watch. They fought really hard for all five rounds. Oliveira was winning most of the time, but in the last round, Chandler almost won.
He got on top of Oliveira and hit him a lot, but some people thought the punches were against the rules. Even though that happened, Oliveira stayed tough, didn’t give up, and won when the judges said so.
Now, Chandler is talking about the fight. He says he’s in so much pain, more than he’s ever felt in all his fighting.
“I had a phenomenal training camp, we went to war, we did our thing, my body, (it’s) in the most pain I’ve ever been in, in my entire life, the most injuries I’ve had in a fight, for sure,” Chandler said on Bussin With The Boys.
“I peed blood, inflammation all over my whole body is swollen. New York (commission) drug tested me right before the fight and then after the fight, so it had a light tint (of blood), and then the second one was like beetroot-looking juice,” he continued.
After the fight, Michael Chandler got to talk to Joe Rogan in the Octagon. Even though he lost, Chandler started talking about fighting Conor McGregor again. He said he would like to fight McGregor for his first fight back.
Chandler also mentioned a possible fight for the BMF title against Max Holloway, but after UFC 309, fans are now wondering if Holloway and Oliveira should fight since Holloway is moving up to the 155lbs weight class.
“I think me and Conor at International Fight Week is the next fight, that’s what I’m throwing out there, I think June or July. I got to see what’s up with the body right now but I’ll talk to Hunter (Campbell) in the next couple of days,” Chandler added.
After UFC 309, Dana White, the president of UFC, shared his thoughts with the press. He mentioned that he doesn’t expect Conor McGregor to return to the octagon until the end of next year, if at all.
