Amazon MGM’s Road House 2 is leveling up its star power, adding several major combat sports names to the sequel of the 2024 blockbuster remake. Among the new faces joining Jake Gyllenhaal are former UFC lightweight contender Michael Chandler, ex-interim champion Dustin Poirier, Tyron Woodley, Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson, Michael “Venom” Page, and Rico Verhoeven, the GLORY heavyweight kickboxing champion.
The 2024 Road House remake, which featured Conor McGregor in his acting debut, became one of Prime Video’s most-watched releases, topping 80 million views worldwide within two months. This time, the Irishman will not return — a notable absence considering McGregor previously claimed that any sequel would be “nothing” without his character, Knox.
A new roster for the sequel
While McGregor steps away, the sequel introduces a fresh lineup of fighters making their mark on the big screen. Chandler and Poirier will appear alongside Dave Bautista and Aldis Hodge. UFC veteran Jay Hieron, who portrayed Jax Harris in the original film, also returns.
Filming for Road House 2 is expected to take place across multiple international locations, including the United Kingdom, Malta, and Savannah, Georgia, with production reportedly expanding in scale and budget.

Poirier’s new chapter
For Dustin Poirier, the film marks his first major acting project since retiring from MMA after his July 2025 loss to Max Holloway. The Louisiana native, who once defeated McGregor twice, appears ready to shift from the octagon to on-screen storytelling — a transition reminiscent of the Irish star’s own post-fight ventures.
Meanwhile, Michael Chandler, who has long pursued a fight with McGregor, will share top billing in the sequel. With UFC discussions still ongoing about their long-delayed matchup, fans might see the two compete on screen before they ever share a cage.
Veterans making cinematic moves
Several of the new cast members bring acting experience. Tyron Woodley appeared in Straight Outta Compton and Cobra Kai, while Rico Verhoeven headlined the action film Black Lotus and appeared in Den of Thieves 2. Stephen Thompson and Michael Page, both known for their flashy striking styles, round out the fighting cast with their own real-world flair.
Though no release date has been confirmed, Road House 2 is already one of the most anticipated streaming sequels on Amazon’s slate — blending Hollywood action with authentic combat sports credibility.
Mcgregor’s preparing for a potential UFC White House card in 2026, where Chandler remains his likely opponent.
