Former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping shared his thoughts on Alex Pereira taking on Ciryl Gane for the interim heavyweight title at UFC Freedom 250.

Many fans were hoping Pereira would face Jon Jones at heavyweight after vacating his UFC light heavyweight belt. Instead, the UFC paired him with Gane for the June 14 White House card. Bisping thinks this fight will be better for fans and more exciting.

“Truly, I think it’s a better fight than Alex Pereira vs. Jon Jones,”Bisping shared his thoughts while Dana White announced the UFC fight card. “I know a lot of people wanted that, but you’ve got to think Jon Jones probably would have just tried to wrestle him.

“We saw that last week with the BMF. We’re going to see Ciryl Gane and Alex Pereira having a world-class kickboxing match in four-ounce gloves. I know we hate this because it’s kind of cursing it, but I guarantee that is going to be a ridiculous fight.”

Why Bisping likes this matchup

Bisping points out that both Pereira and Gane are elite kickboxers, so the fight will likely stay standing instead of going to the ground like a match with Jones might. Fans can expect fast-paced striking, combos, and counters, which he believes is more entertaining than a grappling-heavy fight.

Even though Dana White said otherwise, Jon Jones confirmed he was in talks to fight at the White House card. Jones claims the UFC’s offer was too low, which is why the fight didn’t happen.
