- Michael Bisping argued that Floyd Mayweather may spend an insane amount of money, but is still far from broke
- The former UFC champion thinks everything the boxing legend does is just PR, including the lavish spending
Ever since boxing fans can remember, Floyd Mayweather has been showing off his riches whenever possible and a lot of us have been used to it. However, YouTuber-turned-pro boxing star Jake Paul claimed that Mayweather is already “broke” prior to his brother, Logan Paul’s confirmation of a lawsuit against “Money” over pay disputes from their exhibition match.
“Money” is not losing money
As expected, Jake’s claim became a hot subject of discussions in the sport and among the ones who recently weighed in on the matter was former UFC middleweight champion, Michael Bisping.
Contrary to the YouTuber’s belief, “The Count” doesn’t think Mayweather is now broke just because he blows his money.
“Apparently, people said that Floyd’s broke,” Bisping said on his Believe You Me podcast. “I can’t see how that’s the reality. The man’s earned so much money.”
“Granted he spends a lot; flashy lifestyle, private jets, cars, watches, you name it, and the rest,” he continued. “No doubt a bunch of baby mamas and taxes. There’s a lot of ways to spend money, but still I find that him being broke is a little hard to believe.”
It’s part of the money-making game
When Bisping was told by his co-host about how Mayweather’s ultra lavish way of spending money may have already been catching up on him, including the one in New York where the unbeaten boxer splurged on fancy cars, the Brit offered an interesting theory to dismiss it.
For Bisping, it’s just part of the “PR,” explaining that Mayweather’s crazy spending money is actually another way of making money.
“Stop, no, what you’re describing is not a way to go through hundreds of millions of dollars,” Bisping insisted. “I’m sorry it’s not. It’s a big PR day, they’re trying to put their best foot forward, you get three escalades and put a temporary wrap on them, you’re talking a few grand tops. We’re talking about hundreds of millions of dollars. Just because he’s got three escalades with ‘The Money Team’ on them, that’s not how he loses that kind of money – that is lavish and certainly a waste of money but if you can afford it and it’s creating hype and money, maybe that was money well spent.”
“It’s more buying two Bugattis and spending six million, that’s the type of thing,” he added. “Also flying all your friends around in private jets and buying crazy jewellery, houses, we hear about it all the time.”
Indeed, it’s really hard to believe that Mayweather being broke could even be possible. In fact, he is reportedly expected to likely make a staggering “nine figures” from his latest exhibition boxing match in Abu Dhabi. Wow! just wow!
