AKA Coach Javier Mendez Claims UFC Lightweight King Khabib Nurmagomedov Begins Camp For Dustin Poirier Unifier At UFC 242

Khabib Nurmagomedov is expected to meet Dustin Poirier in the main event of UFC 242, which takes place in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on September 7, 2019. The fight is not officially scheduled yet.

While Khabib Nurmagomedov holds the 155-pound title, Dustin Poirier won the interim Lightweight belt after he outboxed Max Holloway in the main event of UFC 236.

American Kickboxing Academy coach Javier Mendez recently took to his Instagram account to declare that Nurmagomedov’s training camp is set to begin.

Khabib Nurmagomedov last fought in the main event of UFC 229, where he dominated Conor McGregor and secured a rear-naked choke victory in the fourth round. Later he was slapped with a suspension due to his role in the post-fight incident.

Let’s hope UFC will officially set the bout between Nurmagomedov and Poirier. The fighter who wins potential title unification match could meet the winner of Tony Ferguson vs Donald Cerrone, which is set to go down next weekend at UFC 238 in Chicago, Illinois.
