It was Mircea Eliade who said that ‘in imitating the exemplary acts of a god or of a mythical hero, or simply by recounting their adventures, the man of an archaic society detaches himself from profane time and magically re-enters the Great Time, the sacred time’. Of course, the ‘sacred time’ Eliade is referring to is undeniably Melvin Manhoef’s next fight against Brock Larson at ONE FC: Kings & Champions.
The first time I ate breakfast with Melvin Manhoef, the guy had an array of various cuts of beef on his plate. Beef on top of beef — it was truly a sight to behold. If we armed every living cow with a Glock and an instructional guide on how to operate the newly acquired device, the playing field would still not be leveled against the onslaught of Melvin Manhoef. Don’t let Disney fool you, cows can’t read, speak or understand English. Therefore a Glock in the hooves of a cow is as useless as a cheese omelet strapped on the back of an American bald eagle. Perhaps if we replaced all four of their limbs with a unique WWII-era heavy machine gun, then nature may stand a chance against Manhoef. In the meantime, Melvin will continue to slay their population — and he’ll put salt and pepper on them while doing so.
If Melvin Manhoef cornered Lyoto Machida in his fight against Dan Henderson at UFC 157, then we can only assume Lyoto Machida will be cornering Melvin Manhoef in his newly announced bout against Brock Larson at ONE FC: Kings & Champions. The event is scheduled to go down on April 5th 2013 in Singapore, the least emotional country in the world.
