Melvin Guillard blasts JZ Cavalcante on NBC to win his WSOF debut

I’m really, really digging this WSOF on NBC. There’s something about MMA on network TV that just feels… Right. The FOX shows feel that way, and the old Elite XC events felt that way. The one Strikeforce show was okay, but there was a lot of butt-scooting and Hendo-domination so that one was saved by Mayhem Miller. 

Now, Ray Sefo, Bas and a potpourri of interesting fighters are on NBC, 25 years to the day since Seinfeld made its debut on NBC. I don’t know if that means anything, but it’s there.

Melvin Guillard and JZ Cavalcante squared up and had one hell of a fight to open the show, and while JZ did his best to stand up to Melvin’s constant barrage of elbows, knees and explosive fists, there was nothing he could do in the end except have the ref step in on his behalf.
