Dana White Gives The Green Light To Mcgregor vs. Cowboy, ‘El Cucuy’ vs. Khabib Fight
Both Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor received their respective punishments from (NSAC) Nevada State Athletic Commission last month over UFC 229 post-fight brawl that ensued chaos inside and outside the Octagon.
‘Eagle’ got nine months of sanction which can be reduced to six if UFC lightweight champ participates in anti-bullying PSA, however, he refuses to do that, while Mcgregor got six months. The suspensions are retroactive to the Oct. 6 fight that means Irishman is eligible to return by April and Khabib by July.
As far Khabib’s return he wouldn’t compete until his teammates’ one-year suspension is over that means “Eagle’ will be back sometime in November of this year.
Speaking to MMAJunkie at UFC 234 media scrum, Dana White said he has heard those things in the media but haven’t heard directly from Khabib. When we talk face to face will figure it out then.
On being asked who’s next for Khabib, White said Tony Ferguson is a no.1 contender is a deserving candidate to take a short at Nurmagomedov’s title next. Well, White first needs to talk to Khabib who’s manager said: “The Eagle” wants to fight someone who can sell PPV buys and Ferguson is 100% not the next fight for lightweight champion.
“Of course Tony deserves it,” White said. “He’s the No. 1 contender. He’s the guy. That’s the fight.”
Well maybe Mcgregor’s rematch will pay big bucks to everyone, that would leave Dustin Poirier vs. Donal Cerrone next. Hold on, but White wants Mcgregor to fight this summer versus ‘Cowboy.’ Even Mcgregor and Cowboy calling each other out on social media and UFC head honcho said if both want to fight we’ll make it happen.
“I’d like to see Conor fight this summer, if those two [McGregor and Cerrone] want to fight each other, they’ve both earned it,” said the UFC boss.
“Cowboy’s fought anybody we’ve ever put against him… we throw this young killer [Alexander] Hernandez at him, Cowboy’s the underdog, he goes in and does it the way he did it, and then Conor’s fought, everybody.
“If these two want to fight, I’m down,” White said.
