Maximo Blanco is one step closer to making his US debut

It’s fair to say the collective lightweight divisions of the American MMA landscape are deeper than Billy Robinson’s voice. None more so than the UFC who absorbed the WEC roster. Former Pancrase lightweight champion and SRC/Sengoku veteran Maximo Blanco has signed with SuckerPunch Entertainment, management home of many familiar UFC and Strikeforce names such as Roxanne Modafferi, Donald Cerrone, Pat Barry and ME’s very own Damarques Johnson, not to mention Bellator stand outs Brent Weedman and Pat Curran. Seemingly addicted to exciting fights Blanco told MMAweekly.com:

“I would love to fight an exciting fighter like Clay Guida. I really like his style… Also, he is in the Strikeforce, but I would like to fight Josh Thomson.”

The question remains: just where will Maximo Blanco end up? MiddleEasy previously reported that Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney has talked to Blanco, however this has yet to produce anything more than salivation at the prospect of Blanco/Alvarez somewhere on Bellator Season 5. In fact, any match-up which features Maxi Blanco has me salivating like a Pavlovian test subject. [Source]
