Matt Brown just did exactly what he said he was going to do at UFC 145-smash some face

Matt “the Immortal” Brown has always been one of my favorite fighters. He just looks intimidating and if you ever get the chance to talk to him he has a no nonsense gangster to his speak reminiscent of the Diaz brothers or Robbie Lawler. At media workouts for UFC 145 he was asked if he was worried about the unorthodox kicks of Steven ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson and Matt’s response was simply “I don’t worry about him. He needs to worry about me. Because I’m going to smash his face in.” He said it without moving a muscle in his face or blinking an eye. Dude is hardcore. Dude just likes to bang.

Dudes that like to bang are fun to watch fight. Steven Thompson is also fun to watch fight. He’s got an acrobatic kempo karate style we don’t see a ton in MMA. the first round of this fight really just consisted of the two feeling  each other out-trading of kicks, knees, punches. They lit it up second round. Thompson rocked Brown a couple of times. Brown stumbled around the octagon a few times thanks to some Thompson combinations. Brwon regained his footing and came back at Thompson kncking him to the canvas and reigning elbow and punches to Wonderboy’s head.

The third round opened up with more back and forth slugging and both guys were bloodied and rocked when Matt knocked ‘Wonderboy’ to the canvas again  and began working elbows to Steven’s dome again. The crowd was heavily in favor of the South Carolin native Thompson but they were stoked at what was so far the best fight of the night. Matt Brown did exactly what he said he was going to do-smashed Thompson’s face in.
