Dan Hooker Stuns Mateusz Gamrot, Scores Split Decision in Entertaining Brawl – UFC 305 Results (Highlights)

Hooker won his third-straight inside the Octagon, besting 'Gamer' in the UFC 305 featured bout in Perth.

After dropping four out of five, Dan Hooker has seen somewhat of a career resurgence, earning back-to-back wins against Claudio Puelles and Jalin Turn in his last two outings.

Returning to the Octagon on Saturday night in Perth, ‘The Hangman’ looked to make it three in a row against the lightweight division’s No. 5 ranked contender, Mateusz Gamrot.

Round 1

Hooker comes out with a head kick early and he immediately takes control of the Octagon. It doesn’t take long for Gamrot to assume control, moving forward and looking to land a big overhand right. Hooker goes to the body with a kick and Gamrot fires back with a looping right hand that appears to have cut Hooker open near his left eye. Near the two-minute mark of the round, Gamrot grabbed a single leg and quickly took ‘Hangman’ down to the mat against the fence.

Hooker worked his way back up and quickly found himself back on the mat after Gamrot appeared to land a sneaky right hand as Hooker attempted to close the distance. Gamrot dropped some solid ground-and-pound strikes, but once again, Hooker worked his way back up. Hooker comes back with a big left hook that drops Gamrot.

‘Gamer’ absorbs an onslaught from Hooker prompting him to reach for a single leg. Clinging on for dear life, Gamrot was able to survive the round by leaning on his ground game.

Round 2

Hooker came out aggressive in the second, but Gamrot secured a quick takedown off a body kick and took top control in the center of the Octagon. Gamrot transitioned into side control as Hooker slowly worked to scoot himself toward the cage. Gamrot moves back into guard and that allows Hooker to push off with his legs and separate long enough to wall-walk his way back up.

Hooker goes right back to putting pressure on Gamrot, but ‘Gamer’ lands a nice right hand while circling away. Gamrot shoots for a takedown but finds himself in a guillotine. Gamrot defends but has to give up top control. Gamrot climbs back to his fight and goes right back to grinding, fishing for a single leg against the cage with 30 seconds to go. Gamrot separates before going right back in for a single leg that allows Hooker to land some elbows just before the horn sounds.

Round 3

Hooker goes right back to pressuring, but Gamrot again catches one of his kicks and uses it to take him down. Hooker finds his way back up. Hooker moves forward but eats a big right hand from Gamrot followed by another. Gamrot is looking sharp in the third as Hooker continues to relentlessly pursue. Gamrot goes for a takedown with two minutes to go, but Hooker defends and lands a solid right as Gamrot gets back to his feet.

Gamrot snags a single leg but still struggles to get Hooker down as ‘Hangman’ briefly threatens a guillotine. Hooker and Gamrot exchange strikes prompting ‘Gamer’ to once again go for a takedown that he doesn’t get. Hooker lands a huge left hook as the final seconds tick off the clock.
