Mark Munoz told us the entire Filipino population had a problem with his nickname, insisting the current incarnation of his nickname simply objectifies and dehumanizes him. In short, he doesn’t like his nickname. However, Munoz has gone past the point of no nickname return. He can no longer exchange his moniker for anything else. It’s as engrained in his persona as his earth-destroying fists that he exhibits in fights. Getting hit with Munoz’s ground-and-pound must be similar to what the planet felt shortly before the Hawaiian islands were created. We caught up with Mark shortly after Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Daley wrapped up this past weekend and he discussed yet another win for the 209, and his upcoming fight with Demian Maia at UFC 131.
