Mark Hunt hates the UFC rankings just as much as us, also calls out Francis Ngannou

Mark Hunt vs. rankings

Mark Hunt is for the people. The New Zealand dream is clearly on the back end of his career and despite taking some L’s in the cage, Hunt stays winning at life.

No filter Mark Hunt is the best Hunto. In a new interview with the Sporting News, Hunt trashes the UFC rankings system. Made up mostly of FM DJs, obscure European Blog Spot writers and maybe one MMA writer we’ve heard of, the UFC ranking media rankings always and forever will be shit. The UFC only uses their rankings as a TV prop but the power these top 15 listing holds over fighters is very real.

Hunt hates this system and so do we.

“When the latest rankings were published this week, Hunt was ranked equal fifth alongside Derrick Lewis, who he beat in Auckland in 2017.

Having two fighters equal in the rankings is not something the veteran has ever seen before, and he’s furious at the UFC’s rankings system.

“It’s weird – I’m equal fifth with Derrick Lewis – how does that work?” he asked.

“That’s rubbish. They got it wrong. These people doing this have no idea – how can you have equal numbered fighters? It just doesn’t work like that.

“It’s supposed to be number one and number two getting closer to title shots, but they’re just giving anyone who wants one a title shot.”

Thank you Hunto, if Hunt agrees with you, you’re usually on the right side of the argument.

In the same interview, 43-year-old calls out Francis Ngannou. Why? Probably because YOLO and Hunt will always believe he can KO any man on God’s green Earth until the end of time.

“We’re looking to see if I can get Ngannou for August in Hawaii – that’d be great,” Hunt told Sporting News this week.

“Ngannou would be good for me, or (Alexander) Volkov, who just beat Fabricio – if he’s still available.

“I’m just trying to get someone higher than me. I’ve got two fights left, so I’m seeing if I can get Ngannou. I don’t know if they’ve confirmed Hawaii, but it’d be a great match…see who shoots for the takedown first.”

They don’t make them like Mark Hunt anymore. Thank you, Super Samoan.
