On Saturday night, the UFC returned to The APEX in Las Vegas with a heavyweight headliner pitting top-10 contenders Marcin Tybura and Serghei Spivac against one another in a bid to move up the rankings.

Riding into Sin City, Tybura had won three of his last four, including a first-round submission over Tai Tuivasa in March. Meanwhile, Spivac went into his first fight of 2024 looking to climb back into the win column after coming up short against former interim heavyweight champ Ciryl Gane in Paris last year.

Round 1

They get straight to it with Spivac landing a nice right hand. Tybura offers up a leg kick and Spivac immediately closes the distance and drags Tybura to the mat. Spivac fails while trying to take Tybura’s back and allows Tybura to transition into his guard. Working from the bottom, Spivac was able to snatch Tybura’s arm and quickly locked in an armbar forcing Tybura to tap out in the opening round.

Official Result: Serghei Spivac def. Marcin Tybura via submission (armbar) at 1:44 of Round 1.
